• Step 1: First and foremost, you need to get the right qualification. Study Certificate III in Carpentry to be entitled to work as a carpenter in Australia. This could be a comprehensive course by itself or a package inclusive of this program. In all, the course must be registered in CRICOS for at least 92 weeks. During your course of study you must complete 360 hours of work placement as carpenter. It is therefore important to enrol in an institute that assists you in completing the required 360 hours.
• Step 2: After completing your graduation you now need to apply for the 485 Visa- Graduate stream. This visa permits you to live and work full-time upto18 months from the date of grant. For the application of this visa you must provide your carpentry qualification and transcript, a recognised English test (IELTS, PTE, Cambridge, OET, or TOEFL), a provisional skills assessment from TRA, health insurance, and medical and police check clearances.
• Step 3: For migration processes you must work full-time in your occupation for a minimum of one year. This is done via the Job Ready Program. The outcome of this program gets you your full skills assessment as a carpenter in Australia.
• Step 4: Upon getting your Full Skills Assessment issued, you are now eligible to start your process for residency in Australia. You will need to garner the right amount of points, that is, 65 points or more to apply for EOI (Expression of Interest) with the Department. There are a few visas for which you can apply an EOI. On receiving an invitation, you can then make the visa application.
