Genuine Student Test (GST) Requirement
Effective 23 March 2024, the Genuine Student Test (GST) requirement replaces the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) for student visas. This ensures that applicants genuinely intend to study in Australia, with the potential to develop skills needed in the country.
When assessing GST suitability, the following factors are considered:
Current Circumstances:
Details about the applicant’s ties to family, community, and employment.
Course and Provider Choice:
The reasons for choosing the specific course and education provider in Australia.
Future Benefits:
How the course will benefit the applicant’s career prospects.
Immigration History:
Past visa and travel history, including any visa refusals or cancellations.
Applicants must provide clear, evidence-supported answers to these criteria in English, with up to 150 words per question.
The GST statement is crucial in determining the outcome of a student visa application.
